Community year in Estiko Group and Hotel Dorpat

We do our best to contribute as much as possible to the community we are a part of. This year, we are giving our guests the opportunity to support charitable causes by donating to five different organizations that help children, animals, and cancer patients.

When making a donation, you can choose a cause that is close to your heart – healthcare, children, or animals. All collected donations will be distributed among five organizations:

This initiative is part of Estiko Group’s Community Year, which aims to inspire and engage people in doing good and supporting those in need. Our collective effort helps provide security, fulfill dreams,

and create a better future for those who need it most.

Donations can be made through the donation boxes in the Dorpat Hotel lobby or directly on the respective organization's website.

Steps towards sustainability

We are becoming increasingly mindful on our journey toward sustainability – and, of course, we’re inviting our dear guests to join us on this green path. One step in our sustainability efforts is reducing waste – including food waste. We want to preserve our delicious food so that leftovers don’t end up in the bin.

In cooperation with Rohetiiger, we launched a campaign called “Trust Your GUT Feeling – It’s Always Right!”, encouraging guests to take just the right portion of tasty food at the breakfast table, enjoy it peacefully, and help themselves to more if needed. In doing so, we’ve already taken a small step toward making the world a better place.

We’ve also introduced waste sorting stations in the hotel’s public areas to promote a greener lifestyle among our guests.

In addition, we have replaced the cardboard coasters in the hotel rooms with silicone ones – making them washable and reusable on a daily basis. The tap water in our hotel is safe to drink, and we encourage our guests to choose it over bottled water.

The usual toiletries in the hotel rooms have been replaced with products from ADA Cosmetics. These products are eco-certified and produced using 100% green energy. Their packaging is recyclable and directed back into circulation. We also donate old blankets, pillows, and towels to animal shelters in need, giving them a second life instead of sending them straight to the landfill.

At Dorpat Hotel, we use energy-efficient LED lighting, and rooms are equipped with key card switches to help reduce electricity consumption.

Dorpat Hotel is a smoke-free and tobacco-free hotel, including e-cigarettes.

Tartu Smart Bike Share and green city

Dorpat Hotel encourages its guests to act and consume sustainably. Getting to Dorpat Hotel by bike is easy – it’s one of the greenest means of transport and a great way to reduce our environmental impact. Thanks to the Tartu city bike-sharing system, everyone can conveniently rent either an electric or a regular bike and start exploring the city of good thoughts.

If you’re arriving in an electric car, you can park at the Tasku parking garage. An Eleport semi-fast EV charger is located on the 2nd floor of the garage, at the end closest to Dorpat Hotel. The parking garage is connected to the hotel by a gallery, making it easy to access the hotel directly.

Reducing paper waste

To continue our journey towards a greener environment, Dorpat Hotel joined the Hotelbuddy platform in 2024. This solution allows guests to check in online, reducing paper usage.

Guests can easily access information about breakfast, fitness room, pillow selection, and much more – all designed to make their stay with us even more convenient and comfortable.

If guests require an invoice, we offer the option of an e-invoice or sending it via email to help reduce the number of printed receipts.

YEAR OF GREEN ACTIONS in Estiko Group and Dorpat Hotel

We believe that for many of you, keeping the environment around us and sustainability is a topic close to your heart - so it is for us, too. Dorpat Hotel is a part of the Estiko Group, and 2021 was the YEAR OF GREEN ACTIONS for the companies of the Estiko Group. This means that we not only think green, but also implement our thoughts and act green!

Together with 300 Estiko employees, we planned joint events and individual challenges - we regularly get rid of digital waste, use more green energy, launch new collaborative projects, create better options for sorting garbage, etc.

On May 13, 2021, we took part in the forest planting project and together nearly 2,000 spruce seedlings were planted in the soil.
